By adjusting the gate valve on the main drain line you can set your water level inside the overflow box. Turning the gate valve clockwise will restrict water through the main drain, in turn raising it inside the overflow box. Turning the gate valve counter clockwise will allow more water through the main drain, in turn lowering the water level in the overflow box. Please be sure to make small adjustments and allow a few minutes minutes between each adjustment to let the system equalize. Once you have the water level just underneath the emergency drain, its perfect and should make the overflow whisper quiet. If you still have trouble, try reducing the return pump flow to make sure its correct for the drain size of your aquarium. We recommend a 3 - 5X turn over for all of our sump systems.
